Can You Infect Your Partner – Are Yeast Infections Contagious?
Article by Shelley Barns
I`ve heard a lot of contradicting information out there about whether or not yeast infections are contagious. Some say that it is impossible to transfer your yeast infection to your partner, some say that the medical science does not have any proof that it is transferable. But some people say that it is possible to infect your partner with yeast infection. The last one would mean that yeast infections are indeed contagious.
So, what is the truth?
The best thing I can do for you is to tell you about my experience.
My conclusion would be that yeast infections are indeed contagious. I`ll explain why.
When I met my boyfriend, I already had problems and issues with yeast infections. He never had any problems.
And guess what? It didn`t take long for him to develop symptoms of a yeast infections. He had the redness, the burning, the itching, even some swelling. It was very unpleasant for him. First clue: yeast infections are contagious!
So we both went to the doctor. We got the prescription for some ointment, and started using it. We were told not to have sex at least two weeks after we finish the therapy.
We did all of this. We were very patient, and very thorough. We didn`t want to have a yeast infection again, so we did everything by the book. And let me tell you, not having sex for two weeks, while you are laying beside each other in bed, is not my way of fun at all!
But those two weeks passed, and we were finally cured. At least that`s what we thought. We can make love again! Whoooohooo!
This long awaited night was wonderful. I won`t bother you with details;-). But guess what happened in a few days? That`s right, you guessed it: yeast infection came back. And with a vengeance! It was more severe than before. It burned more, it itched more, it smelled worse. Jeez!
And we both got it! Talk about yeast infections not being contagious! Well, we went back to the doctor, and guess what he told us: he snapped at us because we “probably couldn`t restrain ourselves from having sex for two weeks so that`s why yeast infection came back”! Can you believe this crap?
He recommended the same ointment, and we were back where we started. There was no doubt in my mind though, yeast infection was contagious, and we are not getting rid of it with the help of our doctor.
I started researching the internet, and found that yeast infections are really nothing more than some sort of imbalance of bacteria in our bodies. It had to do more with the lifestyle and nutrition that with medicines and doctors.
This meant only one thing: to be able to cure a yeast infection, it has to be natural. This was our only chance to get rid of yeast infections forever.
